M E V E R S U S W E or the other way around. Take the first letter in either We or Me, turn it on its head and its turns into each other. These two little paintings reflects on our collective needs as a society verses our personal needs as individuals in a world where each area of our lives seems to require a lot of us showing up and commitment in order to succeed.
One can argue that these societal pressure of being pulled in different directions have always existed yet somehow in a world where there are supposedly an app for all needs in our life and a digital short cut to success exists at our fingertips or a click of a button 24/7- life and the future has for many never felt more uncertain, disconnected and an as lonely as today.
Discussing this topic with my friends both single or in relationships in their thirties and forties there is sometimes a sense that as much as we are keeping afloat with the help of technology the danger of burn out in both our personal and work life hovers around the corner for many and that’s the feeling of feeling inadequate in our life’s sits right under the skin for many.
