Ladder To The Moon, 2025. Acrylic on canvas, 32 x 42 cm Framed.

This painting is a response to Georgia O’Keeffe’s 1958 work of the same name.
In my interpretation, the horizontal ladder becomes a metaphor for a woman’s career trajectory—one that often flattens once family enters the picture. This does not mean that the desire to build a ladder to the moon disappears; rather, time and opportunities become limited, or sometimes evaporate entirely.

The ladder also symbolises connection: between earth and the cosmos, and between different stages of life. It can represent the act of overcoming immense obstacles in search of freedom or spirituality. Ultimately, it suggests a journey towards hope—something we all need as we move through a corridor of unprecedented uncertainty that one can argue defines our current moment.
