I love taking photos both with my phone and my small point and shoot camera when I am out and about. My favourite snaps to take are random photos of groups of colour and texture that catches my eye. These images later feed into my work, both paintings, prints and textile design. On this journal I show you how I get inspired by and work with colour using my primary research captured on the go.
The different shades of neutral colours of the pavement with the flash of bright blue, black and light brown tape offset against the colour blocks of mint in the left hand corner spoke to me on my way into my studio today. I can imagine this palette working well both for textiles printed on wool and silk. Soft but not boring. The colour mint is not one I am naturally drawn to but seeing it here I will definitely try to use this colour more.
